Richard Baker will discuss his qualitative, phenomenological, dissertation study.  He interviewed three groups of teachers selected to address the following questions.  (1) What are the common lived experiences of teachers who use TPRS?  (2) What do people who where trained in a workshop, but rejected the method, consider the obstacles, difficulties, and challenges to its exclusive use in the classroom?  (3) What do teachers not trained in TPRS consider to be effective strategies, techniques, and practices?  Which of these could be incorporated into the method?  Following this briefing, there will be time for an interactive discussion by those interested in present and future directions for TPRS research.
